Bydgoskie Zakłady Chemiczne “Nitro-Chem” S.A., a member of the Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa, has signed an agreement with PROZAP Sp. z o.o. (a company being part of Grupa Azoty Group) to design a second, new installation for the production of TNT. The investment project responds to the growing demand for TNT voiced by foreign partners and aligns with strategic national security and defense needs.

This is going to be the second TNT production facility at the Bydgoszcz-based company, which will allow for a significant increase in production capacity and the modernization of process infrastructure, while maintaining the highest safety standards. The selection of PROZAP as a design and engineering contractor confirms the importance of Grupa Azoty’s experience and expertise in implementing advanced projects for the chemical industry.

– The PGZ Group commencing activities aimed at increasing TNT production capacity at Nitrochem. This is our main export product, which is extremely important in the face of today’s security challenges. We are making progress today, but the aim is to complete the investment as quickly as possible. That is our utlimate goal. “Unique technology, combined with limited availability of TNT, defines the Group’s exceptional capabilities and reflects the strong position of the Polish defense industry,” said Adam Leszkiewicz, CEO of PGZ S.A.

– Signing the agreement with PROZAP is a significant step in the implementation of our development strategy. We are seeing a clear increase in interest in TNT from other countries, and preparations for the construction of a second production facility will allow us to effectively meet these needs while strengthening Poland’s security and industrial independence, said Arkadiusz Miszuk, President of the Management Board.

– At Grupa Azoty, we are consistently developing our expertise in the field of chemistry for the defense sector, drawing on both our production capabilities and the engineering potential of the Group’s companies. Another contract for design work to be carried out by PROZAP confirms that we have the technological capabilities to participate in the most demanding projects for the defense industry. Cooperation with NITRO-CHEM and, more broadly, with entities of Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa is an example of building domestic expertise under the local content formula—from plant design, through raw material supply, to the development of high-energy materials technology. Such projects strengthen the security of supply chains while simultaneously developing advanced engineering competencies across the entire Grupa Azoty, said Mirosław Ptasiński, Vice President of Grupa Azoty.

The signed agreement covers the development of a comprehensive design for a facility that will enable the expansion of existing production capacity through the commissioning of a second TNT production line. The investment project is part of NITRO-CHEM S.A.’s long-term development strategy, aimed at strengthening the country’s defense capabilities and ensuring the continuity of supply of key products for the defense sector.

“The design of the second TNT facility is of critical importance from the perspective of national defense. It is an investment that builds domestic capabilities, increases the resilience of supply chains, and strengthens the role of Polish industry in the defense sector,” added Karol Przybyszewski, Vice President of the Management Board.

The project’s significance is also underscored by its national and long-term scope. The new, second facility will be a significant step toward further developing the company’s technological capabilities and expanding its production infrastructure.

– From a production process standpoint, the project to build a second TNT plant is a landmark step in the company’s development. This investment will not only allow us to significantly increase our production capacity but will also ensure stable supplies for our domestic and international partners. The new plant will prepare us for further growth in demand within the defense sector. — emphasized Roman Jastrowski, Production Director at “Nitro-Chem” S.A.

The project will also contribute to strengthening NITRO-CHEM S.A.’s position as one
of the leading manufacturers of explosives on international markets, as well as to closer cooperation between key players in the Polish chemical and defense industries. Design work carried out by PROZAP will begin immediately in accordance with the schedule specified in the contract.
