Revamping with no compromise

In Q3 2009 a revamped by PROZAP TDI plant in ZACHEM industrial complex in Bydgoszcz was successfully launched. The goal of the investment project was to boost the efficiency of the plant to 75,000 mtpy with PROZAP preparing the technical documentation in all disciplines. The revamping was carried out without shutting down of the plant.

prozap-zachem-tdiPROZAP designed the revamping of the plant in close cooperation with Mostostal „Puławy” SA, being the EPC contractor. PROZAP prepared designs and engineering in all disciplines and for each stage of the project: Civil Engineering, Detail Engineering, Registration Files, As-built documentation and conducted author’s supervision. The revamping was carried out without shutting down of the plant and using only short maintenance periods. During test runs of the extended TDI plant, all the technical, quantity and quality parameters of the product guaranteed by PROZAP were achieved.

The plant at ZACHEM’s complex produces TDI (toluene diisocyanate), a key chemical in production of polyfoams used widely in various sectors of industry, e.g. in funriture production, automotive, textile, cosmetic and construction.

„Thanks to the familiarity with the plant, which we designed in 2003, present revamping went smoothly and enabled capacity boost while cutting down operating costs and reducing hazards to natural environment.”, says Maria Skorupka, PROZAP’s President&CEO. „It is our second large project for ZACHEM. For the first stage of the revamping we were awarded the First Prize in the “Revamping of the Year 2003” competition.”
